Data Sovereignty & Cross-Border Governance

Where your data sits, and who can reach it from another country, is not really a policy question. It is a setup question. We handle it inside your tenant with Microsoft Purview. A written policy nobody enforces protects nothing. Real controls do.

Data Residency Mapping

A clear map of where your Microsoft 365 data physically sits today, region by region, so nothing is assumed.

Data Classification

Personal and regulated data identified and labeled in Purview first, because you can’t govern what you haven’t found.

Cross-Border Transfer Controls

Rules that limit how data moves between regions, matched to the regulations that apply to you, such as GDPR and DPDP.

Access Governance Across Regions

Who can reach what, and from where, defined in Entra ID and enforced consistently instead of left in a policy document.

Regional Policy Alignment

One configuration approach that respects each region’s rules, so teams in different countries aren’t held to the wrong standard.

Ongoing Sovereignty Review

Residency and transfer settings checked on a set schedule, so they don’t drift as your business and regulations change.

Not Sure Which Framework Applies to You?

Faster than reading through all three regions yourself: just ask us. We'll tell you plainly if more than one applies, and why.

Usually it comes down to where you operate and what data you handle, not where you're headquartered. Healthcare data in North America means HIPAA. Financial entities in the EU and UK, DORA. Personal data tied to India, DPDP.

Often, yes. Purview, Defender, and Intune overlap across frameworks more than people expect. What doesn't overlap is the paperwork, policies and documentation still need separate configuration for each one that applies.

Honestly, neither one alone is enough. You need someone fluent in both the Microsoft 365 tooling and the actual regulatory language, which is a narrower skill set than either job title implies on its own.

At least once a year, as a baseline. Sooner than that if a framework gets updated or your business expands into a region it wasn't operating in before.

Start with a Microsoft 365 compliance assessment. It tells you exactly where you stand, then the plan gets built around whatever carries the most risk first, not alphabetically, not by whatever's easiest.
